Track teams see more national qualifiers as indoor season continues

02.08.2026

The Wolves track and field teams traveled to Bourbonnais this past Friday for the Walt Cramer invitational and came away with four school records and eight new national qualifying performances between the two teams.

The women produced three school records as Ka'mhary Scott set a new 60 M dash record and tied her 200 M mark while Gabby Zid broke the school record in the 3,000 M run. Vivian Forte had qualifying performances in the 400 and 800 as Maura Cecich also qualified in the 400. Corrine Thomas hit the 200 meter dash standard.

"Once again the women's team was very competitive, performed well and had many personal bests throughout the entire team," JJC coach Jeff DeGraw said.

On the men's side, Vince Demma broke the school record in the 400 m dash as he had previously qualified for Nationals in the event. Joining him were Keaton Stroner in the 400, Caleb Kies in the 800 and Tony Kladis in the shot put all hitting national qualifying standards.

"We had some great performances on the men's side, especially with some of our new people running their first meet really coming through," DeGraw said.

"Both teams are really coming together, having great practice weeks and it shows during the meets. We are getting a little bit healthier but we're still not at full strength."

Next up for the Wolves will be the Chicagoland championships on Friday with the men competing on Saturday at North Central College.
