The Wolves are returning to the big dance!
Joliet Junior College men's basketball captured the NJCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic District Championship Sunday afternoon after battling Virginia Peninsula Community College in double-overtime. The Wolves won, 92-88.
"This team is battle tested," said Wolves coach
Danny Turner. "They just never give up."
Turner continued to praise his team, stating freshman
Kareem Parker played "incredibly." Parker finished with 17 points, 20 rebounds and three blocks to power the Wolves to victory.
Sophomore
Levi Goad also "scored well" as he finished with 20 points while hauling in six rebounds and recording six assists.
Ricky Hill finished with 15 points, eight assists and three steals.
Jeffrey Fleming added 18 points and 17 rebounds.
Jyaveion Green made five 3-point shots as he finished with18 points.
"Green exemplified leadership in such effective ways," Turner said.Â
With the victory, the Wolves have punched their ticket to the NJCAA Division III National Tournament later this month.
