Wolves softball splits opening weekend, starting off 2-2

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 | Box Score 4 Wolves softball opened the 2026 season over the weekend at the Dome at the Ballpark in Rosemont, Ill., going 2-2 to start the season.

Game 1 (Saturday)

The first game of the season saw Joliet Junior College fall to Waubonsee Community College, 11-4. Keigan Sprovieri (0-1) pitched three innings in which she allowed seven earned runs while striking one out and walking one.

Paige Borton led the offense, going 2-of-3 at the plate with an RBI and a triple. Lea Herkel finished 1-of-2 with two RBI's.

Game 2 (Saturday)

The Wolves bounced back in the second game, beating South Suburban College in five innings, 14-5.

Averi Jury earned the win after three innings pitched in which she allowed four hits and one run. 

The Wolves' bats were on fire, led by D'arcy Ness who finished 2-of-3 with two doubles and two RBI's. Natalie Reyes was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored. Jury hit a home run as she recorded two RBI's. 

Karli McMillin went 2-of-4 with a double and two RBI's. 

Game 1 (Sunday)

The first game Sunday looked a lot like the previous as the Wolves beat Elgin Community College, 19-2, in five innings.

McMillin (1-0) earned the win as pitcher, going three innings with four strike outs. At the plate, she went 2-of-3 for a double and two RBI's.

Samantha Rios was explosive as she finished 4-of-5 with a triple and six runs batted in. Borton went 2-of-3, recording a home run and scoring three runs. (Fawn) Katelyn Dahlberg recorded a hit in her lone appearance and getting three RBI's in the process.

Game 2 (Sunday)

The Wolves, however, couldn't maintain momentum in the second game as JJC fell to College of Lake County, 7-0. 

Jury (1-1) took the loss after four innings of work in which she gave up four hits and a run.

Reyes was 1-of-3 with a triple while Ashlyn Pacchetti recorded a hit offensively for the Wolves.

The Wolves play at home this Wednesday at 3 p.m. against Moraine Valley College. They will then travel to North Myrtle Beach, S.C., for games beginning Sunday, March 8.
