Joliet Junior College baseball earned a 7-3 victory over Moraine Valley on Thursday, with a big third inning to take control of the game.
Moraine Valley opened the scoring in the first inning, but the Wolves answered in the third, erupting for five runs on six hits to take a 5-1 lead. The key hit came from Jacob Miller, who delivered a two-run single during the rally. JJC added to its lead in the fifth inning when Brendan Henderson launched a solo home run to center field on a 3-0 count, his first of the year.
Will Withers went 2-for-4 with a double and RBI while John O'Brien finished 3-for-4 with a triple.
On the mound, Ryan Hindahl earned the win, pitching five innings while allowing five hits and two runs (one earned), striking out three without issuing a walk. Tyler Gadomski also appeared in relief to help secure the victory.
With the win, the Wolves (6-12) will look to keep the momentum going Saturday against College of Lake County at noon.
