Softball Sweeps First Day at Fast Pitch Dreams Classic

The Joliet Junior College softball team picked up two wins Sunday at the Fast Pitch Dreams Classic in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, defeating Bay College and the Community College of Rhode Island to improve to 4-3 on the season.

In Game 1, the Wolves dominated Bay College in a 16-2 win in five innings. Dani Chorak (1-0) earned the victory in the circle, pitching three innings while allowing two hits and two earned runs and striking out four.

JJC's offense erupted behind several strong performances. D'arcy Ness went 2-for-3 with a double and four RBIs, while Karli McMillin finished 2-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs and three runs scored. Ashlyn Pacchetti added a home run and an RBI, and Natalie Hajer went 2-for-4 with a triple, two runs scored and an RBI.

In Game 2, the Wolves continued their strong play with a 6-3 victory over the Community College of Rhode Island.

McMillin (2-0) earned the win in the circle, pitching six innings while allowing four hits and two earned runs with three strikeouts. McMillin also led the offense, going 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.

Lea Herkel had a big game at the plate, finishing 3-for-4, while Avery Scheuer added two doubles in a 2-for-3 performance. Paige Borton also contributed with an RBI.

With the two victories, the Wolves improved to 4-3 on the season and will continue play in North Myrtle Beach through Wednesday.

Joliet will return to action Monday against Patrick & Henry Community College at 1 p.m., followed by Hagerstown Community College at 3 p.m.
