The Wolves are Region 4 champions once again.
After falling into an 11-shot deficit after the first day of the NJCAA Division III Region 4 Golf Championship, Joliet Junior College rallied to retake the title on Monday by one shot. JJC won with a team score of 759.
"
Sarah Mills was solid as always with 88-89, but Grayce (Featherston) led the charge today with a sterling 84," said coach
Skip Steffey. "All the girls played hard and never gave up, which allowed us to make our comeback. I am very proud of their efforts."
Mills finished third with 177 overall, while Featherston finished with 183 for fifth.Â
Adrianna Cottrell took seventh (191),
Alexis Hora 11th (212) and
Kenady Miller 12th (222).
With the victory, the Wolves earn their place in the NJCAA Division III National Tournament in New York next month. JJC is the defending National Champion.
On the men's side, golferÂ
Ryland Megyeri qualified individually to represent JJC at the National Tournament in New York. He finished sixth with 161.
Joey Lanahan took eight place with 167.
"Ryland did a great job of holding it together today without his 'A' game to capture the second individual spot again this year and is heading to Nationals again," said Steffey.
