05.07.2026

Wolves baseball came up short Thursday, falling 11–6 to Waubonsee Community College in the Region 4 Tournament opener at home.

Joliet Junior College got on the board in the third inning on a sacrifice fly from Jacob Miller. Waubonsee responded to take a 3–1 lead in the fourth before the Wolves answered big in the bottom half of the inning.

JJC scored five runs in the fourth to take a 6–3 lead, highlighted by a fielder's choice from Charlie Martin that brought in two runs.

Waubonsee regained control in the sixth inning, erupting for seven runs and the Wolves weren't able to bounce back.

Offensively, the Wolves were led by Isaiah Rhodes, who went 3-for-4 at the plate. Martin and Miller each drove in two runs, while the team added pressure on the bases with three stolen bases.

On the mound, Daniel McCauley started and struck out four over four innings.

After the game, head coach Gregg Braun emphasized the need for improvement moving forward.

"We've just got to be better in every facet of the game. We had one good inning, but we need to be more consistent if we want to bounce back tomorrow," Braun said.

The Wolves will try to bounce back tomorrow as the Region 4 tournament continues with a 9 a.m. game against College of DuPage.
