The Joliet Junior College baseball field is named in honor of Wayne L. King, Jr. King coached the Wolves from 1987 to 2019, compiling an impressive 1,127-738 record and winning three NJCAA Division III national championships in 1994, 2008 and 2012. His teams made 12 NJCAA World Series appearances altogether, finishing second in 1995, 2007 and 2015. Over the course of his 33-year career, he also led the Wolves to 16 Region IV DIII tournament championships and seven North Central Community College Conference titles. King was inducted into the Region IV Hall of Fame in 2004, the NJCAA Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame in 2009, the Illinois High School Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2015 and the American Baseball Coaches Association's Hall of Fame in 2020. King also served as the college's director of athletics from 1996 until his retirement in 2019.
Wayne L. King, Jr. Field is located on the south end of the JJC campus next to the Event Center.
