Joliet Junior College welcomed Danny Turner as their Head Men's Basketball Coach in August of 2022. Danny brings over 30 years of coaching on various levels as an assistant and head coach to JJC. Coach Turner stared off his coaching career at his alma mater, Providence Catholic High School, under Dick Mandella. Next, he was the head coach at Northside College Prep and Gage Park High School in Chicago, IL. After those stints, Coach Turner served as Head coach at Thornridge HS, Freeport HS, and Joliet Township. ON the collegiate level, Danny has previously coached at NJCAA Division II, serving as an assistant coach at Prairie State College. Coach Turner also was head coach at NCAA Division II, Elizabeth City State University in North Carolina. Danny Turner has served as director and counselor at various basketball camps, such as Chicago Bulls Basketball Academy, Northwestern University, Five-Star, University of Louisville, and DePaul University He has a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from Chicago State University and a Master’s degree in School Counseling (Concordia University). Currently, Danny teaches Physical Education and Driver Education at Thornwood High School. He is a lifelong resident of Joliet and has three children: son’s Markus (Lewis Graduate), Kollen, and daughter Kaila (Notre Dame Graduate).
