Dan Catarello

Dan Catarello is in his first season as head coach of the JJC Wrestling team.

Coach Catarello is a student of the sport. Having been blessed with great coaches throughout his career, he has applied the intangibles of wrestling to his personal and professional life.

Catarello began wrestling as a freshman at New Trier High School for Mike Duroe. He earned a scholarship to wrestle at Illinois State University under Kevin Bellis, and then transferred to the University of Illinois under Mark Johnson, Jim Heffernan and Steve Marianetti. He was a 2x University All-American in Greco-Roman wrestling and was a summer resident at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.

As his competitive career was ending, Catarello began teaching and coaching at the middle/high school level in the Champaign/Urbana area. After moving back to Chicago, he taught at Northridge and helped to start their wrestling program. In 2011, he finished a doctorate in Chiropractic Medicine from National University of Health Sciences and currently directs an acute injury clinic, Spine-Pain.Info, in Joliet.

Dan and his wife Béatrice have nine children: three attend Chesterton Academy of the Holy Family and five attend Kingswood Academy, where he is the Athletic Director and a part-time teacher.
