The JJC women's soccer team fell to Rock Valley College Saturday afternoon 4-1. It even's the Wolves record at 1-1 on the young season.
The Wolves scored the first goal of the game as Adriana Plascensia hit the back of the goal with 31:30 remaining in the first half to go up 1-0.
But then Rock Valley responded just two minutes later with a goal to knot the game at 1-1. The Golden Eagles would score again with 1:49 left in the half to take a 2-1 lead at the break.
A big setback for the Wolves in the first half was an injury to goalie
Monica Hernandez, who had to leave the game.
"Monica can play goalie and is a big asset in the field and we were going to play her in the field the second half, but we had to change all of our plans," JJC Coach
Henry Cheung said. "Melody [Hamerla] came in and did a great job. She made some great saves for the 75 minutes she played, but it just changed everything we wanted to do."
Rock Valley added two second half goals to end the scoring.
"It wasn't the result we want and I told the team we didn't lose, we learned today," Cheung said. "It was a very good learning experience. They [Rock Valley] had speed and great ball control and we found out what we need to work on.
"We will work on what need to get corrected and I'm proud of this team, especially the way they came out in the second half and did what we talked about at the break."
Next up for the Wolves is an N4C match on Wednesday at the College of DuPage with a 6:30 pm start.
