Five different Wolves scored in double-digits Saturday as the Joliet Junior College women's basketball team beat Governors State (JV), 77-73, in their second meeting of the season.
The Wolves (4-2) opened the year against the Jaguars with a 81-53 win. Heading into the second meeting, Wolves coach
Shaun Sanderson knew it would be a lot closer.
"They did have a couple players return from the last time, so we knew it was going to be a totally different game from last time," he said. "We knew they were going to come out and be ready to do something different."
In that first content, sophomore center
Kiyah Robertson recorded 32 points and 15 rebounds. While she couldn't quite match that stat line, she did lead the Wolves with another impressive performance as she racked up 25 points and 11 rebounds.
Fellow sophomore
Olivia Rafalski also recorded a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds, including 10 on the offensive end.
"We're so proud of her because in high school she didn't play a whole lot her senior year," Sanderson said. "Last year, she played a few minutes and had a few buckets. But every day this summer she was in the gym, working on her offense and pretty much recreated her shot. She's got a big heart; she's a hustle player but we want her to be more than that."
After missing the previous two games with an elbow injury, freshmanÂ
Jazlynn Foster returned to the lineup for the Wolves on Saturday. She posted a double-double as well, scoring 11 points with 12 rebounds.
"She impacts the game that way both ends of the floor," Sanderson said. "We're glad to have her back and as you can see, the tempo changes when she's in the game."
Foster seemed a bit limited late in the game, but played nearly 39 minutes.
Â
"It was just a cramp," Sanderson said. "She hasn't been able to practice a whole lot so we tried to keep her hydrated and stretched."
FreshmanÂ
Demi Page finished with 16 points and
Joyce Tua-Link scored 12.Â
The Wolves get ten days off before they travel to Illinois Valley Community College on Nov. 26. In that time, Sanderson hopes to have the team rested and healed.Â
Â
"Now we just got to get Keira (Hunt) back," he said. "We're almost there."
