The Wolves found a way to win in a back-and-forth battle with Kishwaukee College on Tuesday, 51-42, in their first road game of the season.
After the opening frame, the Wolves (2-0) held a 16-13 advantage but were outscored 14-7 to close out the half trailing the Kougars. Second half adjustments were made as the Wolves held Kishwaukee to just 15 points in the half while scoring 28 for the win.
"Tonight's game was a great test for our young team," Wolves coach
Shaun Sanderson said. " We had to go on the road in a hostile environment; it was truly like a playoff atmosphere. As coaches, we get to teach and coach in that moment and develop a deeper trust with the team."
Jazlynn Foster powered the Wolves with 17 points and 17 rebounds to record the double-double. She also finished five steals, two blocks and an assists off the bench.
Joyce Tua-Link also recorded a double-double, scoring 15 points and 15 rebounds along with eight steals and four assists.
"As a team, I think we could've did better but even on an off day we still managed to come together and get the job done," said Tua-Link.
After a 32-point performance in Saturday's season opener, sophomore
Kiyah Robertson was held to just five points.
"Despite Kiyah not having her best game, her teammates found a way to pick her up to get the victory," Sanderson said.
Next up, the Wolves travel to McHenry County College on Saturday for a 1 p.m. tip.
