Down to just five players, Joliet Junior College women's basketball faced an uphill battle Thursday against College of Lake County as the Lancers walked out with the win, 70-47.
The Wolves (5-4) fell behind early and the hole kept getting deeper as ice cold shooting and turnovers cost them down the stretch. The Wolves finish shooting 27% from the floor and 11-of-20 from the foul line.Â
"We just try to tell them this is what it is," said Wolves coach
Shaun Sanderson about the team being down to just five players. "But when they play smart you can see what they're capable of. But we have to learn to play through fatigue."
Freshman
Jazlynn Foster led the Wolves with a double-double, recording 16 points and 14 rebounds along with three steals and a block. Sophomore
Kiyah Robertson also finished with a double-double off 10 points and 12 rebounds.
Joyce Tua-Link also finished with 10 points.Â
"I had to let them know that their pregame wasn't the best," said Sanderson. "Pregame is there for a reason and I think we've got to do a better job of organizing their days. I think that's what it's coming down to. A little bit of stress because it is finals week and a little fatigue did come in. But at the same time, I told them they have to work through the fatigue and execute the things we're going to ask them to do."
The Wolves are back in action Friday as they take a trip to Elmhurst University (JV) at 5 p.m.
