Game Recap: Women's Basketball | | Damien Dennis

Women's basketball falls to Malcolm X, 55-53

The Wolves' rally fell short Saturday as the Joliet Junior College women's basketball team fell on the road at Malcolm X, 55-53.

Down as much as 16 points at one point, the Wolves (8-8) were able to take a small two-point lead in the fourth quarter before Malcolm X tied the game. With 2.6 seconds left, sophomore Kiyah Robertson missed a 10-foot jump shot that went in and then out of the basket to seal the Wolves' fate.

"This was the most physical and scrappy team we faced all season," said Wolves coach Shaun Sanderson. "It took a moment for us to adjust physically and mentally. We started slow and did a great job of fighting back and taking a lead late in the game."

Freshman Jazlynn Foster led the Wolves with 22 points while Robertson added 17.

"The beginning of the game was definitely an awakening to the rest of the game," said Foster. "We made a come back from being down 16 and then to seven and then up by one. We held our grab as much as we could."

The Wolves are back in action Tuesday when they host South Suburban College at 5 p.m.
