Women's basketball starts New Year off right

Five Wolves score double-digits in 87-54 win over Lake Michigan

The New Year is looking bright for the Joliet Junior College women's basketball team as the Wolves cruised to victory in their first game of 2025, beating visiting Lake Michigan College, 87-54, on Saturday.

Lovely Tua-Link powered the Wolves (8-6) with 20 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals in the victory.

"I think today was definitely a good team win and a good way to start the year off, especially with this being our first team back together as a whole," Lovely said.

Kiyah Robertson recorded a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Joyce Tua-Link added 15 points, Jazlynn Foster scored 14 and Demi Page finished with 12.

The long break helped the Wolves, who are nearly at full strength in the new year as Keira Hunt returned to the lineup, scoring 6 points with an assist.

"Today was like Christmas Day for me," said Wolves coach Shaun Sanderson. "To have seven players out there and all playing well was a joy to see. I was very happy with how this group played.

"We share the ball and finally we were able to get easy baskets in transition. We rebounded well and just made the right play often. So proud!"

The Wolves controlled the game from the start, shooting 54% on 27-of-50 attempts from the field with a 35% mark from beyond the arc. The Wolves finished 15-of-23 at the foul line.

Next up, the Wolves travel to Moraine Valley Community College on Tuesday for a 5:15 p.m. tip.
