Things didn't go the Wolves' way Wednesday as No. 8 Joliet Junior College men's soccer fell to top-seed Dallas College Richland, 3-0, in the opening round of the NJCAA Division III National Tournament in Herkimer, New York.
The Thunderducks struck early with a goal in the 8th and held the slim advantage until they added another in the 29th. The Wolves kept it 2-0 until the Thunderducks broke through and added one more goal in the 77th minute.
"We had some good moments during the game where we showed our level and potential," said Wolves coach
Cris Trillo. "The team was too nervous in the first half which hindered us. We calmed down in the second half and created the best opportunities to score.
"I am proud of these guys for competing hard until the last second of the game."
The Wolves aren't done yet, as they will face Suffolk Community College on Thursday at 3 p.m. CST for a chance to end the season with a win.
"We're hoping to come up with a win tomorrow in the consolation bracket and finish the season strong," said Trillo.
