The Wolves got out to a fast start but failed to keep momentum as Joliet Junior College women's basketball fell to Illinois Valley Community College, 67-60, on Thursday at the JJC Event Center.
After jumping out to a 21-16 lead after the first quarter and narrowly holding on 33-30 at halftime, the Wolves (3-3) came out of the having "settled" according to head coach
Shaun Sanderson.
"We came out with great energy, but we settled for the three. We didn't get to the free throw line as much and that's usually our bread and butter," he said.
Samaiyya Williams and Makeena Boyle led the Wolves with 10 points each in the game, but it felt like sophomore
Demi Page was all over the court late in the fourth. Page finished with 9 points and four rebounds along with an assist.Â
"She missed a lot of shots early ... but Demi's been pretty steady these last few games," said Sanderson. "I thought she went a little cold but she's good for us offensively as well as defensively."
"I feel like our intensity wasn't there at times," said Page. "I feel like we started good but didn't finish good. That's our problem, we've got to be consistent to win."
The Wolves opened the season with three straight wins but have now had three straight losses. They get a chance to reset as JJC won't return to action until Thursday, Dec. 4 at Moraine Valley.
