The Wolves earned a dramatic 4–3 victory over Kankakee Community College on Tuesday, rallying late and finishing the job in extra innings.
Kankakee struck first with a solo home run in the second inning and held the lead deep into the game. The Wolves stayed within reach thanks to a strong outing from Ryan Hindahl, who pitched eight innings and allowed three runs while striking out two, keeping the Wolves in position.
Trailing 3-0 in the bottom of the ninth and facing two outs, the Wolves shifted gears. Max Miller drew a walk that put a run on the board, but it was Daniel McCauley's two-run pinch hit that tied the game up for the Wolves. The hard ground ball from McCauley forced extra innings.
In the 10th, the Wolves completed the comeback. With the score tied, Brenden Henderson made a huge impact on the game by stealing second and eventually scoring from second on a wild pitch to give the Wolves the victory over Kankakee.
On the mound, Danny O'Malley helped the wolves with a dominant relief performance, allowing no hits to earn the win. Harrison Kolze also contributed with a scoreless inning out of the bullpen.
Offensively, Jacob Miller led the Wolves with two hits, while McCauley drove in two runs in a clutch moment.
With the win, the Wolves move to 10-13 and will look to keep the momentum going as they return home Wednesday to face Morton College.
