Softball earns split in Region 4 Conference Clash

Joliet Junior College softball earned a split Saturday in doubleheader action during the Region 4 Conference Clash in Ottawa, Ill. 

The Wolves (28-9) beat McHenry Community College, 14-6, to take the first game of the Clash.

Skylar Welcome (1-0) earned the win in the circle, striking out two and allowing five earned runs and four hits through three innings pitched. Keigan Sprovieri earned her first save of the season after allowing two hits and striking out one in three innings.

Offensively, four different Wolves hit home runs, including Welcome as she finished 2-for-4 with three RBI's and two runs scored. Taylor Wells powered the offense, going 4-for-4 with four RBI's and three runs along with a homer. D'arcy Ness was 2-for-3 with four RBI's, a home run and two runs. Aniya Adkins finished 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI's. 

Later in the day, the Wolves fell to College of Lake County, 5-0.

Karli McMillin (9-2) took the loss after pitching six innings in which she allowed seven hits and two earned runs while striking out two. Welcome went 2-for-3 at the plate.

The Region 4 Conference Clash continues Sunday in Ottawa as the Wolves play Waubonsee College at 9 a.m. followed by an 11 a.m. game against College of DuPage.
