The Wolves split a doubleheader Sunday against Black Hawk College, opening with a 6–2 win before falling 4–2 on a walk-off in the second game.
In the opener, Joliet Junior College struck early with three runs in the first inning. Jacob Miller was hit by a pitch to bring in a run, while Brenden Henderson and Jose Granados each added sacrifice flies to give the Wolves an early advantage. Later, the Wolves were able to hold off Black Hawk Tech and win 6-2.
Holden Burokas earned the win with a strong outing on the mound, pitching seven innings while allowing four hits and two runs with four strikeouts. At the plate, Henderson led the Wolves with two RBI's. Charlie Martin also added pressure on the bases with three stolen bases, and the Wolves finished with five steals in the game.
In the second game, the Wolves battled back but came up short in a 4–2 loss.
Black Hawk took an early 2–0 lead before Austin Cusack cut into the deficit with a solo home run in the fourth. JJC tied the game in the sixth when Charlie Martin drove in a run to make it 2–2.
The game stayed tied until the bottom of the eighth, when Black Hawk hit a two-run walk-off home run to take the second game.
Tyler Gadomski had a strong performance on the mound, allowing just two runs, one earned, over 6.2 innings. Cusack led the Wolves with two hits, while Cusack and Martin each drove in a run.
Joliet Junior College will look to bounce back in its next matchup against College of DuPage on Monday.
